Happy Easter!
Josh and I had a great weekend. On Saturday, Josh went golfing with his Dad and brother, played basketball by himself, and then played basketball with his cousins. I taught my violin lessons Saturday morning, then hopped from store to store preparing for Easter. We haven't really ever done Easter baskets before, so I thought this would be a good year to start! It was fun. I went to 4 stores, 3 of which were grocery stores, in hopes of finding some great Easter treats. Unfortunately, by the time I decided to make Easter baskets, all of the candy was gone at 2 of those 3 grocery stores, and the store where I found candy, had a VERY limited supply. It worked out though, we didn't need a lot of candy (we didn't NEED ANY candy--but what's an Easter basket without a few treats??).
Even better than the Easter fun on Saturday, I had a great weekend of reflection. I pondered the great blessing of Resurrection. I thought of loved ones, and friends, and even strangers, who have physical ailments. I thought of the hope the Resurrection brings to each of us every day. I thought of emotional struggles and ailments people I know and love have to endure. I thought of the hope for them. I thought of the hope the Atonement brings. The hope that even though we have all sinned, we can all choose to live with Heavenly Father again, if we repent. I'm grateful for that blessing, and that opportunity.
Easter Sunday was great as well. My reflection continued well on into Sunday evening. We had dinner with Josh's family this year. No contest for families this year because my parents are still out of town. We had chicken and hamburgers, fruit, chips, and dessert. I was assigned dessert this year, so I tried out Bakerella's cupcake bites. They are basically cake and frosting rolled into a ball, then dipped in chocolate. The chocolate makes it look like a little cupcake. I'll have to finish the batch, and actually take a picture of one. They weren't that cute, but people said they liked them, so that was good. They were fun to make, and that's what I spent Sunday morning doing. I will now have to re-stock my supply of candy melts. :) I used a bag and a half of candy melts. I'm excited to re-stock.
Today, I've felt happy and recharged, as if Easter and the renewal of Spring happened inside of me this year. I go through this sometimes, where it takes a weekend for me to recharge, and renew, and then I'm ready for more. I'm feeling great, and revved up to keep going. Tonight, I'm going to try to make some bread. I borrowed my Mom's breadmaker, so I think I'm going to try it out tonight. I may even finish making the cupcake bites. (I ran out of time to finish them yesterday before dinner).
Happy Spring, and Easter to everyone!!!
