Overachiever? I think NOT!!!

Yesterday while checking to see if my most recent English assignment had been graded, I experienced extreme discomfort. My class is an online course, so this grade-checking is easy to do. I gasped, and cried out, as I received my first score lower than 100%. I missed 8 points. To my great dismay, one of my "peer reviews" hadn't posted correctly. I think I attached the wrong file. But my paper was, and I quote, "Fabulous". My Professor just said the file I attached didn't have any of my claimed edits. She told me I could re-submit, and she would change my grade, assuming my peer review was acceptable. Whew! 100%, here I come again! I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...

P.S. I just found my ammended grade...100%! woo hoo!

It's A Tumah!

(The title of this blog is supposed to pronounced in a thick "Arnold Schwarzeneggar accent" --it's a line from the Kindergarten Cop movie)

So yesterday I went to the Periodontist for my Post-Op visit. We talked about the results of my biopsy and figured out that in fact it was a "Peripheral Giant Cell Granuloma". So I am not, nor was I ever, pregnant. It is not cancerous. I'm totally fine. He said the possibility of it returning was anywhere from 7%-17%, but because of how pretty my scarred gums look, he doesn't think there is a possibility it will return. Whew! Sunday was a rough day though, it was really aching and 5 Advil and 1 hour later, it was still not feeling good. It ached and ached, and I kept looking at it. I ran my finger across it, and part of my gums came out with my finger, and then it started to bleed a lot again. So I broke down and finally took one of my prescription pain killers. I was extremely freaked out though. I think the worst part of anything is waiting for results. Today my tooth is doing so much better. It's not really aching, or hurting, and it's definitely not bleeding. The periodontist gave me an ultra soft toothbrush. (Well, the toothbrush itself is called Rx Ultra Suave--I rather like the name!) Lucky for me, I have a kind husband who didn't let me worry too much on Sunday about what the results would be. I got worried, because the word "tumor" is made out to be such a scary word. Most people associate it with cancer. Well, a tumor is just an overgrowth of tissue (and technically so is cancer--an out of control overgrowth), and in my case, an overgrowth of the soft tissue in my gums. No big deal, but of course I didn't think that on Sunday. I'm starting to do a little chewing on that half of my mouth again, so things are looking pretty good. The prescription mouthwash they gave me is kinda cool, I like it, but it tastes DISGUSTING! It has a horribly bitter metallic after-taste. Anyway, he said it was healing nicely, and I'll go in again in about a month just for a check-up to make sure things are still going well in there. Thanks for the prayers and concern on my behalf. I do appreciate it.

On a really exciting note, I have been so good about going to the gym. I go 5 days a week. This has been going on for 3 weeks now. I missed Monday of this week, because I wasn't feeling well, so I get to go tomorrow too (I don't particularly like to have to go on Saturdays). I do cardio for about 45-55 minutes, then I do 300 crunches, anywhere from 36-96 leg lifts (on that structure that you hold yourself up by your arms, and then lift your legs up--hence leg lifts), and sometimes some push-ups, and sometimes some arm stuff. So, I'm very excited to have kept this up for so long, and hope to make it a permanent habit. No weight lost yet, and no, my clothes are any looser yet, but I feel they will be eventually (never soon enough though!) Happy exercising to all of you!

Sew Cool!

So I was poking around today, and I happened upon this cool website. You can download free patterns for barbie clothes, bags, shirts, etc. I actually found it on iGoogle (something else I discovered while searching for the local weather forecast). Sew check it out! Ha ha. There is a cool bag that I think would be fun to make!

How did that happen??

If you are weary of personal health issues, avert your eyes, you're about to get eyesore. So I had this bump on my gums that showed up one day in August. I was paranoid, VERY paranoid about it. I didn't want to have a root canal, so I thought, I'll get rid of this myself. I bought a bleeding gum rinse, and combined that with my other 2 regular mouthwashes. I brushed my teeth so many times, I'm surprised I still have enamel on them! I used mouthwash a minumum of 3 times (each mouthwash at least once) a day, and focused on that sweet spot on my gums. After going through the entire bleeding gum rinse, and 3/4 of the other two mouthwashes, I finally gave in and went to the dentist to have him look at it. (I ended up with more than I bargained for at that visit). I had 3 visits to the dentist in the next 2 months. My dentist told me it wasn't root canal material, and that it was a canker sore with a chemical burn (gee, I wonder what that could have been from...) He treated it with some anti-bacterial stuff (debacterol) twice. It just made the outside smoothe instead of "chemical-burned looking". So I was referred to a Periodontist...

Last Wednesday I went in for a consultation, and guess what is wrong with me...please just go ahead and guess. Please, and guess wildly. Okay, you give... Pyogenic Granuloma. What's that you ask? A soft-tissue tumor (just a little overgrowth of soft tissue cells, that's all...) Well, let me just preface the next part. I am not, nor have I ever been, pregnant. These tumors are found in about 10% of pregnant women in their 1st trimester. Pyogenic Granuloma is also called a "pregnancy tumor". Tomorrow, it's going to get whacked, and shipped off to be examined. Please tell me, how on earth did I get a pregnancy tumor??? The doctor used the word "cauterize", so I'm nervous. I'll keep you posted on how things go with the little "freak show" in my mouth. Until then, Happy Brushing!

P.S. I Thank You

So I just found out last night, that while we were out of town for Christmas, a few people came by and dropped off "4 or 5" presents. The person that was telling me this was sure it was the right apartment because the manager had left our lease agreement taped to our door, and it had our names on it. (Nice!) When we got back in town, none of those things were on our doorstep. So, if you were the kind friends who brought Christmas treats (Olsens--We did get the cinnamon rolls--they were delicious!) after the 20th of December, we thank you. We have no idea who you are, or what you left, but we thank you very much! I hope your Christmas season was great, ours definitely was!

P.S. Thank you! ;o)
