FHE

Click here to see my FHE. I never work at the Restaurants on Monday nights because I have a violin lesson I teach every Monday. Consequently, I am home by myself for Family Home Evening. Tonight, I was lucky enough to be invited to my parents' house for dinner. We had a simple dinner of juicy and delicious sandwiches, and then spent time on the computer looking at pictures of my adorable niece Jane, and somehow ended up watching multiple "Mormon Messages" on YouTube. I decided this is how I'm going to have my own FHE every week. I don't have someone to share a lesson with, so I will log on and watch some of the videos posted by the Church, and find ways to incorporate it into my life.

This week's video is from President Gordon B. Hinckley. It's hard for me to believe that he is no longer here. This touching story has had a lasting impact on me. I remember hearing this years ago, and loving the story. This is something I plan to keep in my mind this week in hopes of bettering the situation of someone else.

Twilight & Rain

It's twilight and raining. I listened as the sky clapped and cracked until it fell open with rain. My blinds are totally open, to let in each particle of light as it is diffused throughout the night sky. I love a good night rain. The television is off, and my mind free from the clutter the television stuffs into my brain. All I hear is the rumbling of thunder, the downpour of rain gushing through the cracks in the sky, and my keys as I type this. The sound of silence. It's beautiful. I hear nature's symphony through my open windows as if I were sitting in the middle of it. I love the rumbling ribbon of the thunder as it fades. There is a steady up close and personal sound of a small stream of leftover rain pouring from my gutters. Then my ears emphasize the crisp "plunk" of the drops smashing into the sidewalk.

It's twilight and I'm reflecting. The lightning illuminates and punctuates my thoughts of today, of last week, of last year, of my life as I bring to light different memories. I'm reflecting on the highlights of my life so far. International trips, summer drives with the sun roof open and the radio blaring, bare feet on a warm sidewalk, shared secrets with best friends, to share a few.

It's twilight and I'm feeling it. I'm living in that medium, that period not yet defined by standard parameters. I'm creating my own happiness and my own intermediate state. A state where I'm not yet finished with one stage of life, but not fully entering another. I have plans. My plans. These plans often change, but I still have them. I have wants and desires, and I'm finding out how to get there.

It's twilight, and I can feel the rain. It's dripping into my thoughts and cleaning out the cobwebs in my mind. Clarifying my thoughts, washing away doubts and fears, clearing a path for accomplishing and achieving.

It's twilight and I'm happy with it.

A Quick Little Update

I haven't posted a lot lately, and it's mostly because I don't really have a lot to say. Not a lot has happened, nothing really notable anyway. So here's a list of what we've been up to in May (in no particular order):

*We drove to New Mexico with my parents for my Grandpa's 80th birthday
*My Grandpa whooped me in a push-up contest
*I started running again--and have since become lazy about it again (other workouts instead)
*I bought a heart rate monitor watch/band and LOVE it!
*We bought a sofa/bed for "my" extra bedroom to turn it into a "guest room"
*We bought a bookshelf (which I assembled entirely on my own)
*We unpacked 3 more boxes
*We bought a grill and had 2 barbecues
*I finished training as an Assistant Server at The Garden Restaurant
*Josh found out he'll be having eye surgery (again!)
*I actually got my visiting teaching done (Yay!)
*We played with the idea of trading in our truck--and have been car shopping
*Josh has read about 4 books
*I have read about 5 or 6 books (lost count)
*We rented some movies and watched them together (Did anyone else get bored during The Curious Case of Benjamin Button? I was NOT prepared for 3 hours. We turned it off)
*I went to dinner with my Dad because I had a Friday night off
*We've visited friends, and been visited by friends
*We each lost 5 pounds (I've lost and found the same 5 pounds twice this month. :D)
*Made new friends out of old friends

Look at all the stuff we've done this month! Who'd have thought?
