As you may recall (or just happen to know) we are house hunting. I have renewed motivation for moving as our rotten apartment complex is raising the rent—yet again. Not to mention we STILL haven’t received our “incentive” for signing another year lease (from when we renewed our contract in February 2008), and we weren’t able to have the “Sign for a year, get a month free” incentive we received when we first moved in. They told us they would most likely have that option available if we were to renew after the first year. Aside from these reasons, and the fact that the property value most definitely has NOT improved to warrant it, they are raising our rent-yet again. Blech. Unsatisfied with the current options for houses listed on the MLS system, I’m reaching out to my fellow blog readers and followers. So, I ask you, nay, beg you, please keep your eyes out for houses that are For Sale By Owner in your areas. I think we would prefer to stay somewhat close to the area we are in now, but at this point, we’re willing to look into anything. So, keep your peepers peeled! I would really appreciate it if any of you find any information about homes for sale in your area(s) (that YOU would move into). Approximate addresses will suffice (though if you pick up a flier and somehow pass that on to me, I might reward you with baked goods…or something else really great—like the privilege of hanging out with me for an evening—kidding of course). We don’t really want to move any farther north than Farmington, and not much south of Sandy. I beg of you, help us be freed from perpetual rent increases and mind-numbing beige walls with sandy-beige carpet that we can’t liven up. (Did I tell you that the lady in the front office suggested I tack fabric on my walls as an alternative to painting since it is not allowed?? Yich. Someone needed to reign in that creativity at a younger age). Oh, and we won’t turn down any offers to live in anyone’s house for free (or disgustingly cheaply rented) while parents, grandparents, friends, cousins, etc. leave UT for some long period of time (missions, retirement vacations, sabbaticals, etc.) Please, please, please, let us know if you have any great ideas. We really appreciate it. Plus, if you help us find the house of our dreams (wink wink) you just might be exempt from helping us move. From what I understand, that should be incentive enough. It took 3 people to carry our inherited t.v. up to the 3rd floor. Not to mention we have a King Size bed and giant dressers. Thanks in advance for all the great suggestions you’ll have.
Here are some things I do NOT want for suggestions (purely for your entertainment):
This is a "NO" based primarily on the fact that I wouldn't want anyone having "proof" I'm not from this planet. I know I say things sometimes that make people think, "What planet is she from???!!!" But I don't want anyone to actually have grounds for thinking that aside from what comes out of my mouth.
I thought the pink house next door to my house growing up was a bit odd. This is utterly shocking. It looks like it belongs in Gardner Village filled with tutus and polka dots and ribbons and other frilly things. I can't believe this man agreed to live there...awkward!

Thanks Maren! I'll check 'em out! You may be "moving-exempt"... and Temaire-- I don't think I would move there in a million years after hearing how well you like it there.
please let me know when you're moving so that I can be sure to plan my vacation to the USA around that time...err...I mean to plan to not be there at that time. ;)
How come you only want houses for sale by owner? As a buyer it is in your interest to get a realtor, it should cost you nothing and if you shop around you can get one that will give you back 1% of his commission, which is paid by the seller. Also they have lists of just about every house for sale and can do all of the hunting for you.
For Sale By Owners are not listed on the MLS system, so realtors are less likely to know about them. i don't want ONLY a for sale by owner, but I am expanding our options.
I can't believe you don't want that lovely pink house! LOL! There is a house for sale by owner over in my parents neighborhood. I think it's like 386(?) Cloverdale Road in NSL. It's an older, rambler style home with three bedrooms/2 bath upstairs and a pretty large lot (the yard needs some work). It's a nice neighborhood and we could still see you at church all the time since they are in the Orchard 10th ward. Oh, and if this isn't incentive I don't know what is, but you could throw snowballs at Maegan, Abbi and Becky as they run by on their way to and from the park in the morning...
There are two cute houses for sale on my street...you know you want to be my new neighbor!
Carolyn, thanks for the suggestion, I like the snowball plan...however, that's a little out of our price range. I do appreciate that though! and Miss Shelby, I really would LOVE to be your new neighbor, but I can't possibly afford a house on your street, and I don't think I could convince josh to let us move that far away--yet. Maybe after we get our Bachelors' degrees, or we could just wait until you come back to Utah to be your neighbors! :o)
Those houses are totally funny! Ha, ha, ha. I'm sorry that you are having such a challenge trying to find a house. House hunting sucks! I will be keeping an eye out for you....of course you know I want you to stay in Bountiful.
It's entirely possible that our house on Sunset Drive will be available when the Wilhelms move out...we are not sure when we will return to the US...but if it is going to be a year or more...we'll want to rent our house. Chantelle Sundwall
